This was his third stop today and he was finally giving in. Apparently he wasn't meant to stay inside tonight, if the dozens of "no"s were to be heeded. Finding no one willing to deal with a guest (even a paying one) in the first town he stopped in wasn't that big of a deal. It had hardly been lunchtime then, and he was fine with travelling on. Hearing the same thing in the second town was a little more disheartening, but still no reason to give up. He made good time to the third town, but after getting several doors slammed in his face, it was time to face facts.

Luckily, he had a blanket in his pack. Unluckily, it had seen better days and would be about as much protection from the hard ground as the already-present grass. Spotting a tree that would at least provide some protection from the morning sun, Chivy started toward it, pulling his blanket out as he went.
