"Very funny," Sefton replied with a scowl. He shifted onto his side to better deliver his glares, and so missed the girl approaching until it was too late. "What—?" he tried to ask, but had already lost his balance and tumbled over the side with a surprised yelp.

Water rushed in around him and sucked him under. The pure shock of it all prevented him from immediately sorting out which way was up, but as soon as he had, he attempted to make his way back to the surface to retrieve some much-needed air.

Barely had Sefton broken his head out of the watery confines did he cry out, suddenly feeling needles slicing into his legs. The pain paralyzed him and he bobbed back under the water, unable to keep kicking and keep himself afloat. In a sort of calm panic, he reached down to try and feel what was wrong, finding a strangely slick substance around his pant legs.

Frost.

His shoes. The water mixed with the cold-infusion must have reacted together and now the field was frosting up the entirety of his lower legs. Thinking rapidly as he tried to pull his way back to the surface with his hands, he tried to come up with a way to get out of the water without losing his shoes.
