"They'll let us out before that," Chivy repeated, nodding to himself. Thinking about getting out meant thinking about what he would need to do once he was out, which wasn't the brightest of prospects. So much for the windfall of the fair, he might not even walk out of the situation with anything at all. He couldn't help yearning for somewhere safe he could keep things, but there was no way he could stay put long enough to have such a thing — this whole mess just emphasized that. And of course he'd managed to catch Sefton up in it. For all of his arguments to the contrary, he wasn't sure they wouldn't track down Sefton's parents, and wouldn't that just top it all off? Chivy closed his eyes and slumped further down, mind still searching for other things that could go wrong.
