It's like a playground!!

[Things have been weird in Maggie's headspace lately. Islands have disappeared, geographical formations have risen and sunk at random, entire cities have wound up time-locked (or just randomly appear as a different time period entirely)... but this? This takes the cake.

The musespace is currently covered in playpin balls. About waist-deep.

And Travis? He's just standing there, a ball in hand, staring.
]

..... What the fuck.

((OoC: Come on, everyone. Join in the fun. ♥! I'll be able to tag back more later, but still~ And besides, who doesn't love playpin balls?))

Would you choose another?

[identity profile] darkbladedstar.livejournal.com 2008-09-16 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Obnoxious, actually. How's that one? [She holds one in her hand, looking at it boredly... and it eventually levitates a few inches and hovers there.]

[identity profile] krestomanci.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
[he's staring straight through the ball, in his own vague sort of way]

Perhaps better suited for you. I, personally, do not find it obnoxious at all.

[identity profile] darkbladedstar.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
I was looking something up. The books I was using all got caught in... that. [vaguely waves around with the hand not occupied with hovering the ball] So, yeah, I'm annoyed.

[identity profile] krestomanci.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
That would cast things in a different light. I could possibly help you with unearthing your books, if you would like the help.

[identity profile] darkbladedstar.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
They could be anywhere, I think. You sure you want to bother?

[identity profile] krestomanci.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, I suppose it depends. [vaguely surveying the makeshift ball pit] Did you mean literally anywhere, or merely anywhere beneath this pile of plastic playthings?

[identity profile] darkbladedstar.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
They're at least somewhere in this room. Underneath the balls, of course. Ugh.

[identity profile] krestomanci.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
That's a much nicer scenario than I was afraid of. Hmm... I suppose it would be easier to move them than the balls. [He has his hands in his pockets, and takes a few steps forward, still looking around at the balls] How many were there, my dear?

[identity profile] darkbladedstar.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
[She takes a moment to stare at him. ... WTF?]

Six. Three large, one pathetic, and two pretty close to average.

[identity profile] krestomanci.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
Colors? Ah, but that probably wouldn't help... What subject did you say?

[identity profile] darkbladedstar.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Wind elemental magic. [Giving him a look like, "The hell, sir?"]

[identity profile] krestomanci.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
Buried wind? That certainly won't do. [and he stops, as if something occurs to him, before nodding, turning counter-clockwise about one hundred degrees and taking another few steps.] You're certain it was six?

[identity profile] darkbladedstar.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
[... Yeah, she's just rolling with it now, though her expression is still in the "WTF?" area.]

Yeah, I'm sure. It was all they had. I was surprised.

[identity profile] krestomanci.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I wonder... [He turns clockwise about eighty degrees, steps backward, and leans down to reach into the balls]

[identity profile] darkbladedstar.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
[Mishen cranes her neck in an effort to watch him better]

... There?

[identity profile] krestomanci.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
[he straightens, dangling a tattered novel by its corner. It's faded and some of the pages flutter into the balls as he lifts it, but it seems like it was once a children's book]

Ahh, it was one of mine. That explains things nicely. [He orients it properly and carefully flips through a few pages]

[identity profile] darkbladedstar.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
[She watches him, shaking her head slowly.

Riiight.

[identity profile] krestomanci.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
[He reads one paragraph, nods to himself, and looks up to smile at her — lookie, eye-contact!]

You should find your books three steps forward, madam. Mind that it is only three, I would hate for you to trip. [annnnd back to his book]

[identity profile] darkbladedstar.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
I... see. [She gives him a curious look for a moment longer, before hopping off the table. She takes exactly three steps, bends over to feel around... And, sure enough, books.]

... Huh. [Impressed/pleased half-smile]

[identity profile] krestomanci.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
[without looking up from his book]

Oh, ah... [he spends a moment groping for a name before deciding he doesn't know it, for whatever reason] miss. If you need other tomes on the wind element, I believe I have one or two. Although those certainly seem comprehensive enough on their own.

[identity profile] darkbladedstar.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
[She nods at him.] Might take you up on it, especially if you have any that say anything extensive about the inverse of the element...

[identity profile] krestomanci.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
The inverse? Mmm.. yes, I believe there's something. [He closes his book and carefully places it back under the balls] My name is Chrestomanci, if you do decide you need anything.

[identity profile] darkbladedstar.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Mishen. Nice to meet you, and thanks for the help and the offer.

[Slow blink....] Why did you put it back under there?

[identity profile] krestomanci.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
It wasn't lost anymore, and I'm afraid it would only have gotten dusty if I brought it back to my office.
