"Have a holly, jolly Christmas..."

Tree-picking had turned out a success, not that it was ever anything but. Duo won the unfortunate duty of preparing the living room for the arrival of the tree, so he was the first back to the house. Everyone else was going to be arriving sometime the next day, tree and other miscellaneous purchases in tow. One of his favorite songs was on the radio, which was the only reason he could name that he didn't notice his three friends waiting on the lawn.

He pulled into the driveway and stopped the car, still nodding his head to the radio. Another thirty seconds and he'd turn the car off (assuming the dj didn't pick another good one to follow this one), besides, why hurry? He could get everything done in the few hours tomorrow before the old man and everyone else showed up.

Heero sat on the top of the stairs leading to Duo's front door, waiting for the troublemaker to show up so he could give him a piece of his mind. Sure, the flashing lights and other obnoxious Christmas-y things were harmless, but it was the principle of it all. Breaking in, decorating without permission... and a list of some other grievances, like the fact that he'd chosen some of the weirdest decorations ever...

Regardless, after calling Duo over and over and leaving several voice mails (some angry, others colorfully so) and receiving no answer, he called Howard to find out where Duo was and when Duo would be home. He was given a date and an approximate time. Heero had been here ever since.

And upon seeing Duo's car pull into the drive, he stood, preparing himself for two things: one, a proper confrontation; two, to keep Wufei and Dorothy from brutally maiming the guy...

Wufei had been pacing since they arrived, refusing to sit and watch for Maxwell to show up as if he were actually anticipating his return home. That wasn't to say he wasn't looking forward to it, but it certainly wasn't because he wanted to see Maxwell. What honor was there in sneaking around and then disappearing? Maxwell should have at least stayed somewhere accessible so that Wufei could express his displeasure in a more prompt fashion.

Dorothy wasn't seated at all, choosing instead to lean back against the door, ankles crossed and arms folded up across her chest. After taking up that very position, she hadn't moved, not even slightly. One wouldn't even know she was alive had she not been breathing and, every once in a while, sighing.

At the sound of the approaching vehicle, however, she stood up straight and adjusted her skirt in anticipation of his arrival and what she planned to do to make him pay. And the whole time, her expression was venomous.

Somehow, Heero managed to keep his glare to a minimal one, without the usual "I will kill you" sentiment that would be so very fitting for the situation. He nodded once, firmly... and waited. He had a feeling that Wufei would want to say something first, and if not him, Dorothy would surely start something. ... That may or may not involve nails. ... Heero began thinking of escape plans and ways to sedate a rabid Catalonia as a way to distract himself from being the first to snap at Duo.

Wufei crossed his arms and scowled (not that he hadn't been scowling before, mind, but this one finally had a target). "What," he said slowly, "were you thinking? Were you thinking?" The fact that someone had entered his space without permission was bad enough, but the... things that had been left behind! "Disappearing after... after... such a thing is dishonorable!!"

"That was more than a little, Duo," Heero corrected, his voice in that dangerously quiet tone that only truly surfaced when Heero was trying so very hard not to yell, nevermind that the quiet tone was often more frightening than the yelling.

"Much more," Wufei added, uncrossing his arms long enough to point threateningly at Duo. "Breaking into my apartment and leaving your mess behind. I never expected you to go to this level!"

"I have to admit, I'm rather surprised at you as well, Duo!" Dorothy was pissed, that much was obvious, but her tone gave away that at least some part was impressed, maybe even amused. She shook her head slowly as she continued, "I hope you weren't expecting to just get away with it, no questions asked."

Heero knew that to be true. All Duo wanted to do was spread Christmas cheer. Had it just been him, Heero would have left an annoyed voicemail but otherwise done nothing - he expected this kind of thing. Hell, Duo had done this to him before. Dorothy most certainly had no idea, though, and though Wufei shouldn't be as surprised as he seemed to be... well, Heero knew damn well that neither Wufei nor Dorothy took kindly to having their personal space invaded. So no, Duo wasn't getting off easy this time.

"There's that, at least, Duo. But, breaking and entering? Without our permission?"

"You essentially did trash my room, Duo! I already had decorations, you should have left well enough alone!" Dorothy's glare was back. "I had some very personal things lying about my room, as well! Did you invade my privacy there, too?"
