You know, it really is nice to be in Chicago for the summer. Perhaps a little longer, if things go the way I want them to. Transfer credits aren't that much of a pain to deal with, and even so, it's not as though I couldn't manage... I should get someone to show me around sometime.

In the meanwhile, I'm still bored. Who is there around here that's worth speaking to? Or should I just go practice fencing?

I'm just.. [rubs one side of his face, turning away from Heero] I haven't been sleeping real great, that's all.

Is that all?

Yeah, that's all. Didn't mean to make you worry.

It can't be helped. [He looks at the floor for a moment, silent, but quickly turns his attention back to Duo.] What's keeping you awake?

[He's mostly not looking at Heero at this point] Just some nightmares.

[He waits for a moment, thinking Duo will go on on his own. But after a few seconds, he takes matters into his own hands.] Tell me.

There's not all that much to tell. Just.. I don't know, rocks fall everyone dies? Except it's more... shit blows up, everyone catches on fire, screaming, and— ... okay, that was probably a little too much detail.

I would say it's hardly enough. [He shakes his head, standing to move the chair closer to the couch.]

It's understandable. I'm just sorry I didn't notice before. However, this isn't something you need to just take alone. [He sits back down, giving Duo a look that's somewhat commanding -- just like old times -- but mostly reassuring.] Is it because of this... end of the world?

Hell, nothing for you to be sorry about.

I guess, yeah.

[He shakes his head] It isn't set in stone. It's possible to prevent it. Are you afraid we won't manage?

No, I'm just.. It's not really the same as when we were going up against OZ, you know? And sometimes I almost wish I didn't know. I mean, it's... what if we did lose? And this is the last time I get to tell Howie happy birthday, or I've already spent my last Valentine's day ever, or I won't get another chance to trick 'Fei on April Fool's? It's... weird to think about.

I know it isn't the same. But I still think we have a chance, especially with everyone else fighting that we haven't even met yet.

[He sighs.] It's very weird to think about. I know. And I try not to, but it isn't something one can help. ... As I said, it makes me read into things.

Yeah. [slow nod] So hey, how does Heero Yuy keep himself busy? I mean, what do you think about otherwise? [teasing, obvsly] Whatever it is you spend your life on that laptop doing?

Nothing of consequence, really. [shakes his head] There isn't anything specific I do on my laptop, either, other than waste time with IRC and some forums I found.

What an interesting life you lead.

Yeah? What do you do all day, then?

Eat, sleep, bug the hell out of Howie. You know, fun stuff.

Doesn't sound like much fun to me.

Your fun meter's broken, you should go get that looked at.

I see no need. ... But Duo, about those nightmares. If it happens again, call me. It may help.

And ruin your sleep too? Yeah right, man.

[he shrugs a shoulder.] You'd be surprised. I may be awake anyway. And if not, it doesn't matter.

I should have expected that answer. I guess if you've got enough time to come over here at that short notice you can probably sleep whenever you feel like it.

Yeah. I don't sleep much. Never did fix it, even though Barton kept telling me I should. Oh well.

Just because you've got a screwed up sleep schedule doesn't mean you need my baggage. Maybe I'll call, though, but only if I can't get back to sleep.
