[Duo was trying to be serious. Honest. It's a serious matter, to have the Angels threatening their security to the point where he was going to stay with Heero. But... well, it was a very good reason to hang out with Heero. He'd taken the chance to swing by the grocery for some peeps and toothpicks, as well as a few other goodies. Who knew what Heero would have for snacking purposes? And, of course, he'd brought the useful stuff. Hell if he was giving Heero a reason to yell at him, and hell if he was going to make it any easier for the Angels than it had to be.

Arms occupied with way too much stuff, he used his head— to knock on the door.]

Heero, buddy, open the door. Maybe you should invest in a push-in door. [another knock] So I could, you know, push it. You'd probably still lock it, though. Meaning my pushing still wouldn't do anything. [knock! Okay, that one was a little too hard. Ow. He'd be putting a hand to his head, if he could get one out of the bags]

[Heero looks up from his laptop (in his defense, he was checking the community, just in case any more word had spread or anything), wary at first, but his eyebrows go up when he realizes who it is. He even rolls his eyes. Standing, he shuts down his laptop before going to open the door.]

You're right, I would still lock it. [He steps aside to let the boy in.] Not that that stops you. [He nods at the bags.] What's all of that?

If you want to stop me, you've got to stop letting me in. [Duo drops most of the bags on the floor just inside] Stuff. Maybe I'll keep it all to me. [... and he gives in to rubbing his head] Your door's too hard, by the way.

You're lucky I don't want to stop you, then.

[He closes the door, then quickly peers inside each of the bags -- not enough to really know what they contain, but he gets a general idea. Especially upon seeing the peeps. Those cause him to make a face and shake his head.]

... What do you mean, my door's too hard?

It is. It hurt me. [one last rub, then he moves to look through a few bags and snag a container of pringles he finds; after popping the top open and shoving a few in his mouth, he holds the container out to Heero; through the chips still in his mouth:] What're we doing, anyway?

I have a feeling that's your own fault-- [Hello, pringles can. He blinks at it, then shrugs and takes a few, nodding once.]

I'm not sure. ... Mostly staying quiet. If they think I'm not here, maybe they won't come in at all. If you have any ideas, now would be a good time to share them.

[cue hopeful look — he even pauses in stuffing pringles into his mouth]

Peep wars?

[.... Facepalm.]

No.

[Since that was the expected answer, he can only manage a pout for a moment before laughing (and returning to his chips)]

Why not? I know you have a microwave.

[... Because they're stupid.] We're supposed to be staying quiet.

You plan on cheering your peep on? [What a mental image that is]

No. But I can't imagine that you wouldn't.

[........ okaymaybe. Like Duo's going to admit it, though.]

Well, I've offered a suggestion. [a gracious gesture with the pringles can] Your turn to come up with something.

[Heero honestly tries to think of something, but comes up short.] We could always just talk for now. We can come up with something later, I'm sure.

[He walks back toward his living room, turning off the light as he does so. The sunset lets a little bit of light in through the window, but that won't last, of course. Regardless, he sits on the floor in front of the couch on one end. There's a handgun on the floor beside him and another on the table in front of him. In fact, if Duo looked around some, he might run into a few more...]

[It's probably not a good thing that Duo pays the gun no mind at all, just snagging his own spot on the floor, taking a moment to stretch]

You know, you just set yourself up.

Set myself up? For what?

You said we're talking. It means you have to talk, too, Yuy.

[That actually gets a small, lopsided smile.]

And I will, if I have anything to say.

That's what you think. [he's slowing down on the chips, and addresses the question to the inside of the can instead of Heero; it's easier to convince the can he's not being serious] So on a scale of one to ten, how worried are you?

[Heero pauses long enough to take a deep breath before answering.] ... Seven.

Figures. [Duo pops one more chip in his mouth, and then sets it aside, brightening in the process.] I'd ask you to play some tunes on that laptop of yours, but you'll tell me I'm being loud, won't you?

[He starts to say that they shouldn't, but... well, on second thought...]

... For now, go ahead. But we'll have to turn it off when it's dark. [He really is trying not to be too serious about this, but...]

[a look to the window has him quickly poking Heero's laptop into making music, but he's flipping about five seconds into every song, looking for one that he feels like listening to]

[Heero should be used to the flipping, but it's still annoying. He shakes his head slowly.] I thought you didn't like my music anyway.

You've got to have something in here. [still flippiiiing] So what would you be doing with yourself if you were alone? Staring at this thing?

[He shakes his head.] No. I'd just stay here, with everything turned off, and wait. Dorothy's right, though, there's safety in numbers. [And... being alone would have been boring anyway.]
